What I’ve Been Playing – October 2015

TheBeginnersGuide4.0

Welcome to October, everyone! I’m sure you’ve noticed my activity on this blog has picked up significantly. I took the time to plan out a post writing strategy for myself to motivate me to write about games again… without burning myself out, like I tend to do on this blog. I suppose it also helps that I’m playing games besides Guild Wars 2 lately! I figured I’d talk a bit about some games I’ve been playing lately that haven’t or won’t get their own post here.

The Liebster Award

liebster img

Today I have been nominated for the Liebster Award! If you don’t know what that is, you can read up on it more here, but the gist is that it’s a way to show other bloggers you appreciate them and also help them grow. There are a variety of ‘rules’ but I will be following the lead of the person who nominated me. Yay blogging! I have been bestowed this honor by Soultamer, who has similar gaming interests as I do and writes about them. Definitely go check her blog out! She has recently started following my blog and ramblings and has left some very kind words in comments!

So now comes the part where I have to answer the 10 questions that Soultamer asked:

White, Blue, and Wings

gw922

It could be considered that I’m cheating because for this week’s Original Content, I’m submitting… this blog. You might have noticed a few things different about it… there’s a new header image and description, the picture on the right hand side is new… and the URL is totally different as well. No longer is this city.navsplace.net, which is what cithryth.com directed to. Finally this blog has a proper name (besides mine) and logo.

Unoriginality: A Writer’s Biggest Fear

brick-wall

The past few days something has started growing on my mind. I don’t know what planted the seed, as it’s not something I had thought about too much beforehand. Maybe it’s the fact that I’m turning 25 in a few months and the “quarter-life crisis” machine is starting to spin its wheels. Whatever did it brought fertilizer though because it’s wrapped it’s tendrils around my brain and won’t let go. Hopefully writing this post out will help loosen the grip and let me think about other, more pressing, issues like whether it’s time I should finally get out of bed at 9am or what type of tea I’m going to have today.

What’s been growing on my mind is the idea and fear that I am completely unoriginal.

Guild Wars 2 Character Progress

gw392

Since the last time I posted a Guild Wars 2 Character Progress report, a lot has happened for me and GW2. We started the Guild Wars Players site up and Drac (and eventually Ethelros, too) and I started podcasting as Guild Wars Players News. It’s been awesome and GW2 still has me in a tight grip. I’d play all day if I could. And I have some days, as you might be able to tell from my characters…

I’m a Bad YouTuber

photo-1414788020357-3690cfdab669
I’m taking this week off videos in an attempt to get back to being a Good YouTuber. Because I have been a pretty bad YouTubuer the past few months. Back in August I was doing a really good job of putting out a bunch of videos every week on schedule and having a bunch lined up in advanced. Then I went on my near month-long vacation and my YouTubing groove has been off ever since.
It’s already late Tuesday afternoon and I’m behind on this week’s videos. Again. So I’m going to try taking this week off from posting any videos. Note: I said posting any videos. The rest of this week I’m going to be recording and editing and getting a backlog of videos going. I’m hoping that this gets me back into my Good YouTuber groove where I can post lots of videos every week on a schedule.
As always, if you have questions, concerns, et cetera please feel free to comment. I’ll answer to the best of my ability.
See you around the internet!

Guild Wars 2 Character Progress

gw049

If you watch my videos or follow me on Twitter, you probably know that my current obsession is Guild Wars 2. What I thought would be an MMO that I would occasionally log in to on weekends for an hour or two has consumed me in a way I haven’t experienced since I started playing Lord of the Rings Online. The quality of the game really took me by surprise. In the past month since I started playing, I have already sunk more hours than I would care to admit into leveling, cosmetics, crafting, and general exploration of Tyria.
